The X Factor 2018 winner will either be one of Louis Tomilinson’s Boys, Dalton Harris or Anthony Russell or Simon Cowell’s Scarlett Lee .
As well as all the exposure a run on the ITV singing contest provides, the winner will now have a solid fanbase to build from and some celebrity contacts in all the right places to ask advice as they start their career in the music industry.
But of course there is also the small matter of money to consider. At one point the lucky X Factor victor bagged themselves the tidy sum of £1million as well as all the other perks.
Things are a bit different these days. Here’s what we know…
What does the X Factor winner get?
Dalton Harris made the X Factor 2018 final

There is no official word from X Factor or Syco about what the 2018 winner is expected to receive but we can take a good guess by looking at past years. See all the past winners here .
The successful act will be rewarded with a recording contract with Syco Records – Simon Cowell’s label owned by Sony.
The value of that contract was claimed to be £1million when the show launched in 2004, although this was spread over about five albums, so there were no actual millionaires made initially.
However over the years the value has decreased, possibly due to the lack of success of many of the winning acts and the waning popularity of the show itself.
Since 2011, according to the Sun, the winner’s first album bags around £150,000, if that’s successful, the second gets around £237,500, £315,000 for number three and £400,000 for the fourth.
Who has made the most out of their win?
Little Mix are now on their fifth album
- Where are X Factor 2017 winners Rak-Su now, and what does Rak-Su mean?
The actual figure the contract is worth is impossible to calculate as it obviously depends on the success of the act.
The 2017 winners Rak-Su have already parted ways with Syco before their first album has even been released.
In November 2018, it was announced Syco would no longer work with Modest! Management, who manage the lads and fellow X Factor winners Little Mix. Both acts are now signed to RCA Records.
Up until then, Little Mix were the act to have worked the most with Syco, having released four albums on the label. Their latest album LM5 was initially released with them but everything has now been handed over to RCA.
Their deal with Simon’s label was definitely worth a small fortune in the end though. Back in 2015 it was thought the band were collectively worth £12million, so today’s figure will be much higher. Kerching!
One Direction have danced all the way to the bank
- X Factor Final 2018: Date, time, duets and who are the finalists?
Leona Lewis, Shayne Ward and Alexandra Burke are all past winners who have enjoyed fruitful careers.
Olly Murs has also embarked on a music and TV presenting career after he came second in 2009 and is estimated to be worth £5million.
But of course the biggest success story from the show is One Direction made up of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. The boyband enjoyed worldwide domination after they came third in 2010.
The lads are no longer together but have gone on to have solo careers and are now thought to be worth around £50million each.
Apparently it pays not to win.
