Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez has admitted his dancing hasn’t been up to scratch on the show this year – because he’s been suffering from a painful back injury.
Gorka, who was paired with Katie Piper for the hit BBC dance competition, said the injury in his neck and lower back had been going on for weeks, and had hugely impacted on his training for the dance routines.
The Spanish pro, who is dating last year’s Strictly star Gemma Atkinson, shared videos of himself receiving the bizarre ‘cupping’ treatment from his chiropractor.

It looked pretty painful itself
“For the last 3 weeks I have been carrying an injury in my neck & also, my lower back," he told his worried Instagram followers.
"They have massively restricted my training and some of the dances for the show have been tough. With being so busy on strictly with rehearsals, Blackpool week, the Christmas special and musicals week, I didn’t have the time to check out the full extent of the damage."
Gorka went on: "Today I FINALLY!!! I went to visit @leskupu to do some work on it, and put myself back in the right place…

Gorka’s neck and back pain stopped him from training as hard as he could
"Here is some of the work we did. I could feel the difference straight away and he’s now my new best friend!"
The dancer’s first video showed him topless and bending his spine so the chiro could rub at his lower back with a metal brush.
"I can feel a pinch," Gorka told him as the professional asked where he felt the pain.
Gorka, wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his hips for modesty, then laid on the chiro’s bed and breathed in deeply so he could have his back manipulated.

The third video showed Gorka moving slowly around as the suction cups sucked up his skin.
"It feels so good," he gushed.
Afterwards, 10 angry-looking red marks remained on his skin, but Gorka didn’t seem to mind.
"I have a little twist in my back, but it feels good now. I’m ready to dance now," he laughed into the mirror while gyrating his hips.

Gorka and Katie Piper were voted out of Strictly in Week 3 of the live shows, having faced Charles Venn and Karen Clifton in the dance-off.
But Gorka will be back on Strictly this weekend to take part in the professional dance numbers.
He was up before dawn this morning ready to rehearse in London, before heading to the cinema with girlfriend Gemma tonight to see the newly released Creed 2.
Gorka will be paired with Caroline Flack for the Strictly Christmas special, four years after she and Pasha Kovalev won the Glitterball Trophy.
