I’m A Celebrity’s most eccentric current inmate, Noel Edmonds , excelled himself last night with a bizarre confession about his regular travelling companion – a dummy called Candice.
The mannequin was a regular fixture in the passenger seat whenever Noel drove his privately-owned black cab around the streets of Bristol in order to deter would-be passengers from leaping into the cab whenever the former radio 1 DJ pulled up at traffic lights.
Noel, 69, used to drive the taxi so he could dodge traffic on his five-mile commute to the Deal Or No Deal studios in Bristol.
Until numberplate-reading cameras were installed he could get away with driving the cab in the city’s bus lanes.

According to Noel, the black cab dodge saved him five months of travelling time before the traffic cameras put paid to the scheme.
The dummy passenger idea was first suggested by Noel’s third wife, make-up artist Liz Davies, to stop people trying to hail his cab.

Noel gave Candice a new hat to make her look more like a genuine passenger
At one point Noel even gave Candice a makeover to make her look more convincing.
Speaking to the Mirror in 2013, a local said: “Everyone has got used to seeing Noel in his cab. But changing the dummy’s hair colour and her clothes is a bit weird, even for him.
“I suppose he could argue it makes it look more realistic, but it does seem very strange. Maybe next time Candice will have some little mannequin kids with her in the back.”
When Noel’s ‘fake taxi’ wheeze was rumbled by the authorities he upgraded to an actual double-decker bus which he named ‘Victoria.’
It’s not altogether clear whether Candice was transferred from cab-riding duties to the bus, or whether she was put out to pasture in one of Crinkley Bottom’s more remote fields.
Noel Edmonds his known for his bizarre and eccentric pronouncements
When Noel came out with the story in camp, most of the other celebrities didn’t seem to believe him. Former X Factor finalist Fleur East did though, and was absolutely outraged.
Later, in the Bush Telegraph, she exclaimed “What a life! How the other half live…” before saying that she wouldn’t resort to such extreme tactics and would just “get my Oyster and jump on the tube mate, like everyone else.’
