FP Jones is now a prime suspect for the Gargoyle King as Riverdale created a tongue-in-cheek reference to actor Skeet Ulrich’s character from the horror film Scream.
The latest episode, Manhunt, saw Alice and Betty Cooper terrorised in their own home after the power was cut and there was banging on the door before the Cooper women saw the terrifying Gargoyle King in their own home, before fleeing to Betty’s bedroom, where they found the late Darryl Doiley’s grave stone with their names written on it, and FP climbing through the window to comfort Alice.
Sounds pretty innocent for FP, but there were a few things in the execution that will cause concern.
The show did a small homage to the film Scream, with the bag of popcorn left on the stove as the foil bag inflated, before Alice and Betty experienced their terror, and it was left inflating before exploding once the terror began.
Once upstairs, however, FP embraced and comforted Alice, with a mysterious stare to Betty.
In Scream, the heroine’s tormentor and her comforter (with entrances and exits via a bedroom window) were one and the same and both played by Ulrich.
