Stan Lee’s cause of death has been revealed two weeks after the Marvel Comics co-creator died aged 95.
Lee, whose work inspired movies, television shows, books and more and featured iconic characters such as Spider-Man, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk , passed away on November 12.
On Tuesday, the Marvel icon’s death certificate was released.
According to TMZ, his cause of death was heart failure and respiratory failure. They also report he suffered aspiration pneumonia, which is when you inhale food, stomach acid or saliva into your lungs.

Lee passed away on the morning of the 12th at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being transported from his home in the Hollywood Hills.
He had suffered from several illnesses over the last year, including a bout of pneumonia and problems with his vision.
Lee launched Marvel back in 1961 along with Jack Kirby.
The Fantastic Four was a huge success and led to the creation of Black Panther, The Avengers and many more.

His relationship with Marvel got a little rocky when it went full-on Hollywood.
He even sued the company in 2002 for royalties he said he was owed for the first Spider-Man movie.
Three years later, he settled the case for $10 million.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan. Stan’s wife of 69 years, also named Joan, died in 2017.
After he was cremated his ashes were returned to his daughter.
