Caroline Flack confirms West End Chicago role as Cheryl loses out

Caroline Flack has confirmed her West End starring role in Chicago – after she was picked for the job over Cheryl .

Love Island hostess with the mostess Caroline will be joining the London cast in the musical, playing the main character Roxie Hart.

Speaking about her new role ahead of her debut next month, Caroline said: "I’ve been imagining playing Roxie since I was a teenager.

"To have now landed the role in the West End is a dream come true. I hope I do everyone proud and don’t fall off the ladder."

It comes as another blow to Cheryl, whose new single Love Made Me Do It hasn’t been quite the comeback success she’d hoped.

The former Girls Aloud singer was believed to be in final talks with Chicago bosses before Caroline got the call.

Producers of hit musical Chicago were looking to make another showbiz signing after the success of Oscar-winning Cuba Gooding Jr.

But amid a series of accusations about Cheryl’s behaviour, Caroline was picked to take over from current Roxie Alexandra Burke in December.

The Sun claimed producers in New York pulled out of negotiations after they grew "tired of a number of diva demands from Cheryl".

However, Cheryl’s rep has categorically insisted that that wasn’t the case.

"We can confirm that Cheryl was approached with an offer to take the role but turned it down," her spokesperson told Mirror Online at the weekend.

This will be 39-year-old Caroline’s first leading role on London’s West End.

Mirror Online has contacted Cheryl’s rep for comment.
