Strictly 2018: AJ Pritchard slams judges’ scoring and hints at Lindy Hop-a-thon ‘fix’

Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard has hit out at the judges scoring during Saturday’s show and said that his routine with Lauren did not deserve a five.

The couple achieved just 23 for their dance on Saturday and landed bottom of the leaderboard after scoring the lowest points for their Lindy Hop.

Appearing on It Takes Two today, AJ didn’t hold back his opinion on the scoring – or that awkward blunder that saw Shirley Ballas read out the wrong results of the Lindy Hop-a-thon.

Lauren admitted that it had been "disheartening" to receive such low scores after working so hard.

"I tried to bring everything I could this week," she said. "We were selling it – we worked on personality day-in and day-out and me just showing who I am and how I am with you on my own.

"And to see the five and the 23… to back down was tough."

AJ interjected and said: "Technically, with the armography and steps and choreography we put in there and the lifts… it didn’t deserve a five."

He added: "There’s nothing else to say."

Speaking about the lindy-hop-athon, AJ admitted that he "still wasn’t sure" whether they had actually come last.

Earlier on in the show, Graeme admitted that he had little to no hope of the judges choosing to save him over Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev.

The cricketer and pro partner Oti Mabuse just missed out on the quarter-finals after losing to Ashley and Pasha in the dance-off.

But Graeme said that once learning who they were in the dance-off with, he knew that Ashley would have had to have "fallen over" for the judges to save him.

Appearing on It Takes Two today, Graeme joked that the show was "not worth watching" now that he was not in it.

"No, I thought I got as far as I could have," he added. "I loved Saturday’s show – it was an absolute hoot."

Speaking to host Zoe Ball, he said: "I thought I could beat anyone in a dance off and then they said ‘Ashley and Pasha!’ – and then I said ‘They’re going to have to fall over!’ and she said, ‘They’re going to have to fall over twice!’."

While he admitted that his time to leave the competition, Graeme said that he had felt "flat" yesterday after they were booted out.

"I felt so flat because I wasn’t going to spend another morning with Oti," he said. "She has the most wicked sense of humour."

Asked whether he had learnt anything about himself, he said: "I’ve learnt I’m an emotional rollercoaster… I didn’t think it was so hard being away from the wife and kids.

"On Wednesdays she would have to pick me up because I would be in a puddle of tears on the floor."
