In a terrifying preview from tonight’s I’m A Celebrity Get me Out Of Here James McVey, Rita Simons and John Barrowman undertake tonight’s Bushtucker Trial – The Quest.
John slips naturally into the role of expedition leader as the trio negotiate a series of perilous challenges including – as we see in this preview video – abseiling down a sheer ‘chimney’ in a cliff to grab three star pennants which each symbolise a seat for one celebrity and a victory feast.
The celebs will be keen to get a full set of stars because they have all been shedding weight rapidly on a basic rice and beans diet.
Rita and John wisely watched James descend first

As well as the element of danger time is also a factor. The stopwatch has been set by a series of mini-tasks undertaken by the three’s fellow-campmates.
Emily Atack and Malique Thompson Dwyer scored five out of five on the ‘X Factor’ challenge, then Anne Hegerty, Fleur East, Noel Edmonds, Nick Knowles, Harry Redknapp and Sair Khan took part in the ‘Sick Chair’ challenge.
The sheer cliff face is no place for the faint-hearted
Each of the unfortunate celebs had to eat a dead witchetty grub. Anne struggled a bit with hers but managed to choke it down. She redeemed herself in the next part of the task which involved chugging grisly ‘smoothies’ with vile ingredients ranging from pigs’ penises to turkey testicles. She downed her fish eye cocktail in one – even though some viewers insist that the drink was a fake .
The trio have a total of 85 minutes to complete the task

Finally, Fleur East and Nick Knowles had to unlock a puzzle while being pestered by pythons.
All in, the team managed to win maximum time for their friends: a total of 85 minutes.
Fleur said: “I am so happy, everyone smashed it.”
And Anne said: “I kind of did surprise myself, I was nauseated by the eating trials and still am.”
James volunteered to be first down the rope
Viewers who had clearly never seen the show before expressed shock at the nature of the challenge, with one saying: "Seriously disgusted @ITV showing biting heads of [ sic ] live insects in the name of ‘entertainment’.
"Insects have feelings and whoever decided this was ok, enjoy your next life as a dung beetle #ImACeleb"
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
