I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is driven largely by the public vote. Viewers choose, either by phone or by the show’s mobile app, which celebs go home, and which ones face the show’s fearsome Bushtucker Trials.
Which is why Vamps star James McVey may come to regret is outburst on last night’ show where he described the show’s fans as ‘d**ks.’
"The public have done it not to be nice, but to be absolute d**ks – because they know that Nick cooks everything, Nick does everything for us.
"They’re doing it to throw a spanner in the works”
The remark didn’t go unnoticed by the show’s viewers, who took to Twitter to protest about the slur…and suggest that maybe a few public votes may be going against James in the near future…
James’s remarks sparked an immediate reaction

- I’m A Celebrity fix row as Anne Hegerty fish eye drink is ‘swapped with cola’
Nick Knowles has been selected by the public to replace Noel Edmonds as the camp’s leader and while some of the other celebs took it in good part – Harry Redknapp, for example, sided up to Nick and light-heartedly started campaigning to be his sidekick – James was evidently displeased by the outcome.
James may come to regret his words
Nick has been a model camp-mate so far, performing well in the Catch A Falling Star challenge as well as doing more than his fair share of cooking so elevating him to the Emperor position is a fitting reward as well as mixing up the dynamic of the group to make things more interesting.
The Vamps star may find the coming week to be something of a trial
Noel was philosophical about losing his privileged position, stripping the beds in the Emperor’s tent with Harry Redknapp’s help – and encouraging Harry to swipe a pillow as they did so!
Nick’s elevation to camp leader has certainly made things more interesting
- I’m A Celebrity fans disgusted by ‘torture trial’ as campers bite heads off DEAD insects
Everyone else in the camp seemed happy, or at least resigned to their new roles; Anne is Nick’s deputy, John will be head cook, Emily is on washing-up and James will share the dirtiest job with Harry – cleaning the dunny.
It remains to be seen whether the public will simply vote James out, or keep him in for more torment
But there’s a definite resentment about James’s remarks, and it will be interesting to see what fallout comes from James’s ill-considered outburst, and how many Bushtucker Challenges he faces over the coming week.
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
