The Chase star Anne Hegerty had been excused from I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’s trademark gruesome challenges so far but last night she faced her first Bushtucker Trial – eating a wichety grub and washing it down with a gross fish-eye smoothie.
But was that really what it was?
Some I’m A Celeb fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that all was not as it appeared to be with Anne’s challenge.
They believe that the I’m A Celebrity producers are pandering to Anne’s sensitivities by switching the icky eyeball drink with a regular cola.
After the trial, Anne said she was pleased with herself for completing the challenge, saying: “I kind of did surprise myself, I was nauseated by the eating trials and still am.”

But some viewers remain unconvinced.
This is part of a growing trend among TV viewers who see conspiracies and ‘fixes’ on any game-based show.
Just this weekend a social media storm arose when a technical error saw the Strictly judges reading scores for the Lindy Hop challenge from a scrap of paper because the electronic scoring system had hit a glitch.

And the X Factor has been plagued by suggestions that the programme-makers have been fixing the results to maximise ratings for some time now. The current theory revolves around Anthony making it through to the final.
Speaking to the Mirror, an ITV spokesperson said that there was no truth to the suggestion that Anne’s trial had been ‘fixed.’
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
