Prince Harry Is Traveling to Zambia Alone so Meghan Markle Can Have Some Family Time at Home

  • Prince Harry has jetted off to Zambia for an official visit this weekend, without wife Meghan Markle.
  • The Daily Mail reports that the visit was always intended as a solo trip, but that Meghan may have accompanied her husband had it not been for travel warnings regarding the Zika virus.
  • Instead, the Duchess of Sussex is remaining at home, and apparently may be visited by her mother, Doria Ragland.

This weekend, Prince Harry has embarked upon a two-day trip to Zambia, where he will visit the capital city of Lusaka and its Burma Barracks. There, the royal will pay tribute by attending “an event commemorating WWI and WWII Zambian veterans,” per Kensington Palace.

Despite it always being billed as a solo trip, the Daily Mail reports that Meghan has also been advised not to make any trips abroad, due to risks associated with the Zika virus.

Whether or not this is really the case, Meghan and Harry happen to be having this time apart on their anniversary, as pointed out by ELLE.com. Of course, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their engagement on November 27, 2017, and so much has happened in just one short year.

Kensington Palace revealed that during the trip Harry “will attend events for The @QueensComTrust, of which he is President,” and that he’ll also “visit @BongoHive, Zambia’s first technology and innovation hub. The organisation provides a range of startup and tech programmes, workshops and events all focused on making Zambia Africa’s next hotbed of innovation.” Basically, the Duke of Sussex is in for a busy few days.
