Kimberley Walsh fights Cheryl’s corner after THAT X Factor performance

Kimberley Walsh has come out fighting for her friend Cheryl after her X Factor performance sparked Ofcom complaints.

The former Girls Aloud bandmates have always had each other’s backs, especially when they’re getting a bit of negativity.

And after Cheryl ‘s performance of her new single Love Made Me Do It was branded "disastrous" and brought in a string of Ofcom complaints, Kimberley has spoken out.

She told heart.co.uk : "I thought it was amazing. I loved seeing her back on there doing what she does."

And speaking about the backlash to the performance, Kimberley continued: "I don’t even get into any of that. I’m not interested in any negativity.

"I like seeing my best friend up there doing her thing, and I just felt proud to be honest… she’s out there doing her thing again. I felt like a proud mum."

Kimberly also addressed a comment made by Nadine Coyle, who said that the Girls Aloud bandmates were no longer friends.

She said: "Maybe that’s how she felt. I know that we were all friends.

"I don’t want people to genuinely believe that there was no friendship. We all went out together every single week. We all had some fab times."

Cheryl and Kimberley have remained close since the band split in 2013, along with Nicola Roberts, who co-penned Love Made Me Do It with Cheryl.

The threesome regularly hang out together, but the same can’t be said for Nadine and Sarah Harding.

It’s been reported that Cheryl’s single has sold just 5,000 copies.

The mum of one’s new track entered the charts last week at No.19 – and has already fallen to No.48.

According to the Sun, just 5,000 copies of the sultry single have been sold – a far cry from Cheryl’s heyday as one-fifth of the chart-topping Girls Aloud.
