Many of the stars heading into the I’m A Celebrity jungle mistakenly believe that they will be fed secret meals when the cameras aren’t watching.
But now former campmate Jake Quickenden has revealed that the crew are under strict orders not to give the cast any food whatsoever – or they risk getting sacked.
The camera crew are not even allowed to speak to the campmates or give them any information about what is going on outside of the confines of the camp.
"People start getting hungry, then if it rains people start getting moody,” Jake, 30, told The Sun.
"Even when you walk into trials the cameramen don’t speak to you. You are that shut off from the world.
The crew aren’t allowed to feed the campmates on I’m A Celeb
“I remember asking one of them: ‘Do you know what the Man United score was at the weekend?’ and they said: ‘Jake we’re not allowed to speak to you.’
"One of them was eating a Tic Tac and I said: ‘Mate, I couldn’t have a Tic Tac could I?’ And he was like: ‘I can’t give you a Tic Tac I’ll get sacked.’
"I said, ‘you’ll get sacked over a Tic Tac?’ All I wanted was a different taste in my mouth.
“My mouth was dry for the whole time. You’re not drinking cold water, it’s always hot because you’re boiling it. My wee was like golden syrup by the end of it."

Jake was the runner-up on the reality series
Despite loving his experience in the Australian jungle, Jake was not a fan of the meals that the stars were provided during their stint on the show.
He explained: "The food has no taste to it, you’ve got no salt or flavouring. And the toothpaste has no flavour so your tongue is horrible and your breath stinks."
"The meat, honestly it’s not like you’re getting a fillet steak! You’re getting like a crocodile foot.
Jake, who appeared on X Factor in 2014 with current campmate Fleur East, has revealed that she called him to ask for advice over whether or not to take part in the ITV reality show.
"[Fleur] actually rang me before she went in and said: ‘Jake they’ve offered me the jungle, what do you think?’ And I said: ‘Mate, take it. At the end of the day when do you ever get these life amazing experiences? Definitely take it and go and show everyone how great you are and you’ll do well.’
"I think she’ll be fine. I think maybe she was just a bit apprehensive about the bugs because she did ask what about this and what about that. But from the person I know of her, she’ll do great."
"She is a really lovely girl and she’s very talented, it is a shame her music didn’t so well but I said to her: ‘It is a boost and you can get cracking on with your music after.’"
