I’m A Celebrity’s Nick Knowles in his goth phase is the stuff of nightmares

Nick Knowles ‘ goth days may be long behind him, but these pictures are sure to haunt him forever.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate once rocked this very unique look.

Posing backstage at London’s Stringfellows nightclub in 1996, the DIY SOS host is pretty unrecognisable.

Nick is wearing very heavy make up, with his face painted white and his lips and eyes a matching bronze colour.

He’s also wearing mascara and eyeliner and his eyebrows are coloured red to match the long curly ginger wig he’s wearing.

Nick sits on what appears to be the edge of a sink in front of a bathroom mirror as he poses for a photographer.

And his outfit is just as eye-catching as his make-up.

Nick is dressed in a white ruffled shirt with frilly sleeves that hang below the arms of his long black coat.

He completed his look with skin-tight grey leggings and chunky black lace-up boots.

It’s certainly a memorable outfit.

Nick looked like this when he became goth rocker Carrick Fear.

He made the dramatic transformation for ITV documentary The Tuesday Specials.

The documentary was an experiment to discover how hard it is to become a rock star by creating an "impostor" in the music industry.

Nick, then 31, was working as a TV journalist at the time, and set out to trick the nation and the music industry into thinking he was a star in the making while camera crews followed his every move.

His then-wife Gill was interviewed for the documentary.

She said: "Well, he hasn’t got any talent at all. He can’t sing. He sings in the bath in the morning and we all sort of get under the duvet.

"He gets a bit carried away, and they say, ‘Daddy, stop it, stop singing’."

It’s not exactly a glowing review.

But despite that, Nick went on to release his own album years later.

Talking to his campmates on last night’s episode of the ITV reality show, Nick revealed he was once approached by a record producer to make his own album after he jammed with Biffy Clyro on a Soho rooftop.

Despite his lack of dazzling chart success, Nick’s cover of Make You Feel My Love from his 2017 album Every Kind Of People has just shot to the No1 spot in the iTunes chart after radio DJ Chris Moyles kickstarted a campaign on his Radio X show.

Maybe Nick will do a follow up album after his time in camp.

But will he release it as himself or as Carrick Fear?
