Queen Elizabeth’s California Wildfires Statement Pays Tribute to Meghan Markle’s Home State

  • According to the BBC, 77 people have been confirmed to have died during the devastating California wildfires, with a further 1000 currently reported as missing.

This weekend, Queen Elizabeth released a statement offering her support to all of those affected by the ongoing California wildfires, which have so far claimed 77 lives.

The BBC reports that the devastating fires have destroyed “more than 12,000 buildings… in the Camp Fire and evacuation orders still in place across swathes of California, thousands of residents are now spread out in temporary accommodation or shelters.”

On the Royal Family’s official website, Queen Elizabeth writes:

“Prince Philip and I offer our deepest sympathies to the people of California, who continue to suffer from the devastating fires across the state.Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims, and to all those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. I pay tribute to the courage and dedication of the US emergency services and the volunteers that have provided support.”

Meghan honored her home state of California in her official Coat of Arms, which was released after the royal wedding.
