Melinda Messenger defends new love after awkward Loose Women appearance

Melinda Messenger has defended boyfriend Chris Harding after his awkward appearance on Loose Women today .

It was almost love at first sight for the pair, who instantly clicked on a charity version of Channel 4’s First Dates.

However Chris left some viewers concerned over a few telltale signs that he might not be as into her as she was him.

When probed about the possibility of wedding bells, Chris admitted that he had "never been the marriage type".

Following their appearance on the ITV daytime show, Melinda took to Twitter to defend Chris.

She said: "Ah poor chris! neither of us want to get married, it’s only been 3 months it’s early days & we are happy just seeing where it goes without any pressure."

Chris left Celebrity First Dates fans were left cringing last month after he said that he photographed Melinda’s wedding.

However during today’s Loose Women appearance he said that that wasn’t quite the case and had actually photographed her at another wedding.

On the charity special of the Channel 4 show, Melinda was introduced to Chris Harding, a former OK! magazine pap.

He instantly appeared to recognise her and gave her a big hello. However Melinda appeared to have forgotten his and sheepishly said that she couldn’t remember him.

To make matters even more cringey, he pointed out that he had photographed her wedding.

Melinda had been married to Wayne Roberts from 1998 until 2012.

And wincing viewers flocked to Twitter to comment on the awkward moment.

One tweeted: "What’s the most awkward thing that can happen on a first date?? …………. I phographed your wedding cringe! #firstdates."

While another commented: " Why did he bring the wedding up #FirstDates #SU2C ."

A third remarked: " “I think I photographed your wedding” is one of the best lines I’ve ever heard on #FirstDates."

" ‘So I think I photographed your wedding’ what not to say in the first sentence on a #FirstDates," another pointed out.

One wrote: "Why did he bring the wedding up #FirstDates #SU2C."

Despite the initial hiccup, their date went so well that they continued to meet up after the programme aired and are now dating!
