I’m a Celebrity: What camp mates’ hidden body language reveals about them

This is one of the most fiercely competitive and also funniest group of I’m A Celebrity contestants, which should make for a classic series.

Rita put herself straight out in front as female alpha leader, posing with her hands on her hips to show her warrior side, but also performing the kind of soap opera star hugs on the boat at the start that look very warm but actually involve very little in the way of actual touch, to suggest she might be nicely vocal if she doesn’t get her own way.

John and Nick competed for superhero status, both plunging into the lake to help the losing team when their boat sank.

Nick is the one who could clearly do this whole show without breaking into a sweat, with his arms folded to show off his muscles and his deep, reassuring voice chipping in with the one-liners. He looks more like one of the local bush men and he and Harry make a great double act.

John Barrowman could obviously make up a great trio with them but his sudden bursting into show tunes and his wonderfully loud laugh could make him the first to irritate the others.

Anne bore all the hallmarks of a strong female alpha, standing with her hands stuffed onto her hips and telling herself off to motivate herself when she had to stick her hand into a load of crabs and spiders but she was also the first one to cry once they arrived in their very basic camp.

She then rolled herself into her sleeping bag to eat and the worry must be that she could struggle or even quit early. If she rallies round and gets through the first night though she could be a real powerhouse. I’m not sure how she’ll cope with Emily who probably performed the longest scream ever on the show when she sky dived into the jungle.

Emily is hilariously fearful which should mean she’ll get voted to do all the trials, but she could be too noisy for Anne to cope with in the camp.
