You might think we’re taking the piste with this one…
But Olympic ski jump legend Michael “Eddie the Eagle” Edwards has revealed he was once offered “great money” to pose naked for a centre-spread in Playgirl – and now deeply regrets turning it down.
Eddie, 54, was approached by the magazine after his heroic stint at the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, in 1988.
He says: “They were offering great money at the time. I wanted to do it but my manager wouldn’t let me.”
The sporting hero, who has previously described himself as “the George Clooney of the ski business” while detailing his sexual exploits with groupies, says that he would “jump at the chance” to be a pin-up now.

He says: “It would take half-a-million to get my kit off… Nah, I’d do it for a cup of coffee and a packet of pork scratchings.”
Plus, he adds: “I’m lighter now than I was at Calgary.”
Eddie, speaking at the launch of alpine-themed pub The White Haus, in London, is currently working on a musical about his life, after the success of a biopic starring Taron Egerton, 29.
The former plasterer’s life story has already been turned into a movie
He says: “It’s all being done by the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.
"It’s for my local theatre, then regional theatre.
"Then if it goes well they might want to take it to the West End.”
