Dancing On Ice 2019: Saira Khan’s children convinced her to take part

She’s set to put her skates on for the new series in January.

And Saira Khan has discussed her reasons for signing up for Dancing On Ice 2019 in a new interview with HELLO! magazine.

The 48-year-old Loose Women star revealed her son Zac, 10, and seven-year-old daughter Amara convinced her to take part after she initially turned down the offer.

Saira says she was worried she wouldn’t be able to juggle the training sessions with her TV commitments and her family life.

Saira also confessed she was keen to fly the flag for the older generation of women watching the show.

She explained: ‘As women get older, our lives consist of being parent, wife, friend, but we forget to put ourselves out of our comfort zone.

‘We have to dig deeper and remember: “I can do this”.

‘It gives you a little bit more confidence and self-respect by having a go.’

Saira and her husband Steve Hyde adopted their daughter Amara from an orphanage in Pakistan 2011.

She now believes the pair are ready to adopt again.

‘We’re in a good place’, she said. ‘I do believe that love and stability can change a child and that not everyone comes from a perfect background.

‘I like to think we’re a nice family and would like to offer that to somebody.’
