While Holly Willoughby is due to start her run presenting I’m A Celebrity in Australia tonight, her This Morning replacement, Rochelle Humes, seems to be doing a decent stand-in job.

The former Saturdays star-turned-TV-presenter, 29, has already started her five-week stint covering Holly’s role with Phillip Schofield.

But according to The Mail on Sunday, some people at ITV aren’t happy with her presenting, and have called it "lacklustre" and are annoyed that Phillip "refused" to let Amanda Holden have the job, as he allegedly thought she would be too "overbearing".

Phillip Schofield STRIPS OFF on This Morning to help reveal baby’s gender

A source said: "All the happy, smiley faces on screen are to be taken with a pinch of salt. Holly is being hugely missed and the view is that Amanda would have been a total star but Phil Schofield didn’t want her."

Just last week, it was revealed Amanda had a heated exchange with Phillip after she believed he got her axed from co hosting This Morning.

She was set to fill in for Holly but the offer was withdrawn at the last minute, according to The Sun.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 47, believes Phil, 56, was behind her missing out on the coveted role — and it going instead to former girlband star Rochelle.

I’m A Celebrity’s Holly Willoughby lets details of ‘first Bushtucker Trial’ slip

A source said: “Amanda was very excited when she learnt she had secured the role.

“She is very popular at ITV and has always been a favourite with This Morning.

“She’s an experienced co-host and has filled in on the sofa on many occasions, including alongside Phil.

“So she was shocked when she was taken out to lunch by ITV executives who told her that unfortunately they couldn’t follow through with the offer.

“During the lunch they let slip they thought the decision had been heavily influenced by Phil and that he had thrown a spanner in the works.

“Their meeting was a few weeks before the news broke that Rochelle would be covering for Holly and Amanda was understandably upset.

“Not only had she cleared her work calendar to fit in the dates but she couldn’t understand why Phil might not want her to be his co-host, as she thought they had a great personal and pro relationship.”

Shortly after learning her work offer was off, Amanda was interviewed by Phil and Holly on October 8 about her work with the charity, Tommy’s.

And during an ad break she confronted Phil about her suspicions.

The source added: “She made it clear that she felt very let down.

“He was lost for words but didn’t have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air.

“Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack.”

Mirror Online has contacted ITV for comment.
