Richard and Judy: a powerhouse couple, a story of enduring love and owners of some very slightly nauseating memories.
For some reason, Richard Madeley has been throwing back to the very first time he and the Judester ever snogged – when they were both (’80s scandal!) already married.
He said: “It was after a long day spent filming promos together in Blackpool. We had dinner afterwards and really opened up to each other for the first time.
“Then we shared a long taxi ride back to Manchester in the dark, and a kiss goodnight turned into something a little more . . . ahem. I mean, there weren’t really tongues exactly, but it was lingering and we both knew a line had been crossed.

“It was our first proper kiss but nothing else happened. It was food for thought for both of us though, and the start of our love affair.”
Both Richard and Judy were married when they met in 1982, working for Granada Television. They divorced their partners (Judy was previously married to David Henshaw, while Richard was with Lynda Madeley) after having a workplace affair, and the couple – as we know them now – married in 1986.
But in an interview with today’s The Sun, he also revealed that Judy initially told him to call her "mummy". Judy’s first words to her handsome new colleague on meeting him were: “Hi, I’m your mummy” — a reference to the practice of giving established employees a “newbie” staff member to mentor.

When asked what the secret to their marriage was, Richard said: "There’s no great panacea. We’ve had our moments, and the occasional screaming, f***-you row, but it’s always been over something trivial. We’ve never had marriage counselling, and never ever so much as discussed divorce. There have been no crisis dinners, nothing. We respect each other, and that’s the key.”
He added, that while he didn’t want to elaborate on their bedroom antics: "I am very happy with my sex life. And I’ve never had to sleep on the couch. The only time I sleep in the spare room now is when I’m doing an early morning show and don’t want to wake Judy up.”
Even though Richard has just turned 62, there’s no way he’d consider cosmetic surgery – but he does want to live to 100.

He said: “Botox? F**k, no! And nor have I dyed my hair, as everyone seems to think. It’s bloody annoying — it’s simply the sunshine making it blonder from a summer in the South of France.
“But there’s no point me being all silly and modest, l know I look younger than I am. It’s genetic. I think Mummy blessed me with good genes. My ambition is to live to 100. I’d hate to think I will die at 75, so I only have 13 years left.
“It’s probably b*****ks, but I have an instinct that if you are positive about living for a long time, you will. I’ve had my blood, heart and liver tests done, everything came up fine.”
