Human Centipede Movie Review and why the movie is bad.

The sequel to Human Centipede was recently banned in the UK – a move that is both unjust and pointless. Art, if it is anything, is about free speech and free access to content. By banning the movie, the country just makes it all the more appetizing to watch.

Human Cenitpede, recently pariod (poorly I should add) on Southpark, has been the subject of much controversy about censorship and how far movies should be allowed to go. All pointless… Human Centipede was bad. Not just bad to the point of disappointing, but just plain shitty. It put a pie on the window sill, but only had clumps of shit when you went inside. The problem with the movie? Nothing happens – nothing at all. For one thing, the best thing the movie had gong for it was the larger-than-life concept – one which I must admittedly say is pretty cool, but cannot make the movie good.

It is boring, pointless, and not - I cannot stress this enough - disturbing. I saw this movie going on a year ago (and recently watched it again for a refresh) and have never bother reviewing or writing about it on my website because there was no reason to waste my time. It is a novel concept – I’ll give them that, but other than being a one trick pony the movie has nothing else.

The plot of the movie is  simple: A guy snags three victims and makes them into a “centipede”. An idea that, in just its inception, I find marvelous.  But, what the movie lacked is a follow-up – a “point” if you will. The movie is gory or disturbing because it never really has a chance to. Once they’ve been sewn together, the movie is sort-of over.

There is, however, one moment which almost makes up for the numerous other lackluster ones – when they first have to eat each other’s shit. I was pretty pleased with that very impressive scene.

Let me also clear the air saying that I love exploitation movies. Love them. Takashi Miike is one of my favorite directors and I grew up adoring exploitation. (I even recently included Troma’s Terror Firmer in my list of “greatest films” ever made section.)

My point regarding Human Centipede is that if you put your best foot forward you’d better be ready to stand on it.

NOTE: I know this wasn’t a really fair analysis of a movie, but I really don’t think it deserves it. Masterpieces like Martyrs and Inside do, not this piece of garbage
